Help Shape NetLogo's 2026 Roadmap

April 16, 2026

What if you could directly influence what the NetLogo Center builds next? We're running an experiment: donors get to vote on our development priorities for the rest of 2026! Anyone who donates by April 30 (or who already donated in 2025) will be invited to participate.

Why we're doing this

NetLogo has historically been funded by federal research grants, but grants alone aren't a reliable long-term path to sustainability. We've always gotten feedback from our users, but never systematically. So, we're experimenting with community-supported funding paired with community input into our decisions. NetLogo will always be free for educational and academic use, but it's not free to maintain and improve. If this experiment works, we'll make it a regular part of our process.

How it works

  1. Now through April 30 — Suggest features. Post ideas in the Feature Requests category of the NetLogo Forum.
  2. Now through April 30 — Donate to join the vote. Anyone who has donated in 2025 or donates any amount by April 30, 2026 will be invited to vote. Donate here.
  3. Early May — Ballot published. We'll build a ballot from the community's feature requests.
  4. Mid-May — Vote. Donors vote through Voqua, an online quadratic voting platform.
  5. End of May — Roadmap shared. We'll use the results to help set our 2026 priorities and publish an explanation of our decisions.

Donate Now Donations are processed by Northwestern University, where the NetLogo Center is housed, and 100% support NetLogo.

Thank you for experimenting with us to build NetLogo's future!

Uri Wilensky and the NetLogo Center team

P.S. If you know others in the NetLogo community, please forward this along. The more voices we have, the better the outcome will reflect what the community needs.
